About

Newnham College Boat Club is a women’s boat club at the heart of the University of Cambridge. We were founded in 1893 and have pioneered women’s rowing at this university. Now over 125 years later, we are still going strong.

We are the oldest and most successful women’s boat club in Cambridge and look back on a proud tradition. Our rowers have gone on to compete in national and international regattas with phenomenal success, including alumna Anna Watkins who won gold at the London 2012 Olympics.

We race throughout the year both on and off the river Cam (including racing WEHoRR on the Thames alongside the best crews in the country). Our main focus is on the Bumps Races at the end of the Lent and Easter Terms. NCBC’s boats have been very successful over the past few years. We are among the top crews on the river and secured double headship in 2019!

We are always keen to welcome new rowers. Regardless of your level of experience, Newnham College Boat Club can offer you excellent training, the opportunity to meet many new people, and a busy calendar of social events.

Please have a look around our website to meet the people in the Club, read our recent news, and find out more about rowing with us.
