Join Us!

NCBC welcomes everyone, whether you’ve been rowing since you could walk or you’ve never set eyes on a boat before!

Novices

Most people join us without any rowing experience whatsoever! ‘Novicing’ is a term of training that will teach you to row and give you a taste for what the sport is like at Cambridge. It’s a great way to pick up a new activity, make new friends from all years, and have fun! You will have outings on the water and erg (rowing machine) sessions, and have the chance to experience racing against other colleges, as well as plenty of socials and swaps!

If you don’t fancy the exercise, you may also want to try coxing! We are always on the lookout for people to steer the boat and give directions to the crew.

NCBC coaches novices in Michaelmas and Easter. Find us at Newnham Freshers’ Fair or email our Lower Boats’ Captains at ncbc.lbc@gmail.com to find out more, and sign up to the novices’ mailing list to keep up to date with what’s happening.

Experienced Rowers

If you have had experience rowing or coxing before, you may be able to go straight into one of our senior crews. Our captains would love to hear from you at ncbc.captain@gmail.com, and join the NCBC seniors’ mailing list to stay in the loop.
